Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Stresses Women’s Role in Economic Strengthening

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the crucial role of women in strengthening Pakistan’s economy, stating that federal and provincial governments are collectively working on initiatives to empower women. He highlighted that several important projects are currently underway in Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Addressing a ceremony at the Prime Minister’s House on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Shehbaz Sharif underscored the need to provide women with training and support in every sector. He announced that the CM Women Empowerment Program in Punjab has been upgraded to the PM Women Empowerment Package. He stressed that Pakistan’s development is only possible if women are given equal opportunities alongside men in all fields.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment but acknowledged that much work remains to be done. He stated that integrating women into key sectors, including imports and exports, is essential for Pakistan’s progress.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of hard work, noting that women constitute 50% of the country’s population. He praised the contribution of rural women, who work alongside men in various agricultural activities such as sowing, harvesting, and operating machinery. He also acknowledged the presence of women in urban workplaces, urging educated women to take on more leadership roles for national development.

Highlighting the role of mothers in shaping future generations, Shehbaz Sharif referenced Islamic teachings, mentioning how Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) showed great respect for his daughter, Hazrat Fatima (RA), and how Hazrat Khadija (RA) was a successful businesswoman. He affirmed that Islam promotes women’s rights and allows them to work within a defined ethical framework.

The Prime Minister also addressed child labor, recalling that during his tenure as Chief Minister of Punjab, all child laborers were removed from brick kilns and over 19,000 children were enrolled in schools.

Additionally, Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the Rescue 1122 emergency service introduced by a previous government, noting that instead of discontinuing good initiatives by political opponents, they should be expanded for the country’s benefit. He stressed the need to end this counterproductive trend in Pakistan’s politics.
